Product photo: same prompt, different AI
Task: A clean studio-style product shot for an online store or ad. Below is the same job written the way each tool works best. All prompts are RuleStack originals (MIT). We describe how prompting differs, not which tool is "best": we haven't run benchmarks, and results change with every model update.
Note: Review and test before use. Provided as is, without warranty. See Terms.
Midjourney
Short, comma-separated description with parameters at the end. --style raw keeps it photographic; --ar sets the crop.
Studio product photograph of [product, e.g. a matte black ceramic coffee mug], centered on a [seamless warm gray] backdrop, soft key light from the left, gentle shadow, subtle reflection on the surface, crisp detail, commercial catalog style --ar 4:5 --style rawChatGPT Images (GPT Image / DALL·E)
Plain sentences and a short checklist work well. Ask for edits in follow-up turns ("make the shadow softer").
Create a photorealistic product photo for an online store.
Product: [product].
Background: plain [color] studio sweep.
Lighting: soft and even, one gentle shadow under the product.
Camera: straight-on at product height, product fills about 70% of the frame.
No props, no text, no logos except what is on the product itself. Square format.Gemini Nano Banana / Imagen
Good for editing your own product photo: attach it and describe what to keep and what to change.
Photorealistic e-commerce shot of [product] on a [white] seamless background. Soft diffused lighting, accurate colors and materials, sharp focus across the product, small natural shadow. Keep the product shape and label exactly as in my reference photo if I attach one.FLUX (Black Forest Labs)
Natural-language detail rewards specificity about materials, lens and light.
A high-end studio product photograph of [product] standing on a [light oak] surface against a [soft beige] wall. Large softbox light from the upper left, delicate contact shadow, realistic material texture, shallow depth of field, 85mm lens look, clean minimalist composition.Ideogram
Use Ideogram when the image needs readable text; put the exact text in quotes.
Product photo of [product] on a [pastel blue] background with the words "[SHORT TEXT, e.g. NEW]" in bold clean sans-serif at the top. Soft studio lighting, centered composition, ad-ready.How they differ
- Image models differ most in how they handle text, references and parameters. Ideogram and GPT Image are the usual picks when text must be legible.
- Midjourney expects parameters such as --ar at the end of the prompt; the chat-based tools take aspect ratio in plain words.
- If you have a real product photo, use an editing-capable tool (GPT Image, Nano Banana) and describe what must stay unchanged.
